IDEAS-TVET Project Flag-Off Ceremony Marks New Phase of Skills Development in Gombe.

In a major step toward curbing youth unemployment and fostering self-reliance, the official flag-off ceremony for the Technical Service Providers (TSP) training programme under the Innovation Development and Effectiveness in the Acquisition of Skills (IDEAS) Project was held at the Federal College of Education (Technical), Gombe.

The event brought together top government officials, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) representatives, facilitators, project leaders, and hundreds of enthusiastic beneficiaries.

In his welcome address, the Provost of FCET Gombe, Dr Mohammed Gazali Abdulhamid, who was represented at the event, expressed gratitude to key stakeholders and encouraged participants to approach the training with utmost dedication.

Representing the National Project Coordinating Unit (NPCU) from Abuja, Hajiya Rahmat Abdulkadir emphasized the core mandate of the initiative:

“This project is specifically targeted at supporting young Nigerians to become self-reliant, productive members of society who can contribute meaningfully to national economic growth.”

Further bolstering this vision, the Project Monitoring Officer (PMO) for Gombe, Dr. Abdulgafar Ahmed, assured the public of the quality and rigor of the training modules.

He said: “The beneficiaries are receiving the very best training available to ensure they gain practical, durable skills that will sustain them well into the future.”

The highlight of the event was the official address and flag-off delivered on behalf of the Honorable Commissioner, Gombe State Ministry of Education, Aisha Umar Maigari. In her address, she urged all beneficiaries to demonstrate high levels of discipline, honesty, and dedication throughout their training.

Echoing these sentiments, several speakers throughout the morning called on the trainees to stay focused, work hard, and maximize the resources provided to them.

A total of 1,385 trainees are currently undergoing specialized technical training across 18 designated Technical Service Providers (TSPs).

“I can already design and craft a bag from scratch because of the practical skills I have learned so far,” shared Hyelapamdua Shawulu, a beneficiary training under Blesyn Concept Ltd.

Other participants across different training centers echoed similar sentiments, expressing their determination to stay dedicated, attend all practical sessions, and master their respective trades.
